104 answers
Getting started & your account
What is skrhyb?
skrhyb is a UK marketplace for everyday services — cleaning, gardening, car washing, lessons, pet care, home maintenance and more. Customers and households use it to find, compare, negotiate, subscribe to and manage services within a budget. Businesses use it to win customers, sell recurring services and bundles, schedule staff and fill unused capacity.
Is skrhyb free for customers?
Yes. There's no platform fee for customers — you pay the price you agree with the business. Businesses pay a monthly or annual plan fee, and skrhyb takes no commission from your payments to them. See how fees work.
How do I create an account?
Choose Get started and enter your name, email and a password (at least 10 characters, with letters and numbers). A postcode is optional at sign-up but helps us show services that cover your area. Businesses choose List your business instead.
What happens during onboarding?Customer
After signing up we ask a few short questions — your postcode, whether you're an individual or a household, which services interest you, an optional budget and your preferred days and times. Everything except the postcode can be skipped and changed later in Account settings.
Can I use skrhyb as both a customer and a business?
Yes. One account can buy services and also own or work for a business. Use the area switcher at the bottom of the side menu to move between the customer, business and staff areas. You can't buy from your own business.
How do I sign in securely?
Sign in with your email and password. You can turn on two-step sign-in (an authenticator app code) under Account settings → Security. After several failed attempts, sign-in for that account is paused for 15 minutes to block password guessing. Sessions last up to 14 days.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
Use Forgot password. If an account exists for that email, we send a link that works once and expires after 60 minutes. Setting a new password signs you out on every device.
How do I change my email preferences?
Go to Account settings → Notifications. Service messages (bookings, payments, changes) are always sent in the app; you choose whether they also go by email. Marketing emails are off unless you turn them on. Optional text messages are only used for time-sensitive updates such as appointment changes.
Where are my notifications?
Every update — offers, counteroffers, payment confirmations, reminders and messages — appears under Notifications in the side menu, with a badge showing how many are unread.
Finding & comparing services
How do I find a service?Customer
Go to Discover and describe what you need in your own words — for example "a cleaner once a week and a gardener twice a month, £250 a month, weekends". We turn that into requirements and show a shortlist for each service, with a short explanation of why each provider was suggested. You can also search and filter by price, rating, distance, availability, verification and promotions, or browse Explore without an account.
Is the AI search always used?Customer
When our AI is available it interprets your request. If it isn't, a simpler rule-based reader is used and the page tells you so. Either way, results only come from real listings — prices, reviews and availability are never made up.
How are search results ranked?Customer
Organic results combine a confidence-adjusted rating, reliability, distance, availability and how well the price fits your budget. A business with a handful of five-star reviews doesn't automatically outrank one with hundreds of consistently good reviews, and new businesses aren't buried. Sponsored and “Featured” placements (paid promotions, or the higher business plans) appear in a separate, labelled section — paying never changes a business's rating or organic position. See how ranking works.
Can I compare providers side by side?Customer
Yes. Select services in Discover or open Compare to see price, frequency, rating and review count, verification, insurance, upcoming availability, cancellation terms, discounts, distance and the expected monthly and annual cost in one table.
Are distances and travel times exact?Customer
No. Distance is calculated from postcodes, and travel time is an estimate based on typical road speeds — it's always labelled as an estimate.
What does "within budget" mean?Customer
If you've set a budget, we compare each service's expected monthly cost (including any travel fee) with what you have left after your confirmed commitments and pending requests. We never suggest going over budget unless you choose to.
What are smart bundles?Customer
Some businesses combine several services — for example monthly cleaning, fortnightly gardening and a quarterly maintenance check — into one subscription with one price. We show the bundle price next to what the same services would cost separately so you can see the saving.
What are offers near you?Customer
Businesses sometimes publish unused appointment slots at a discount. If you've told us which services interest you and the offer fits your area and budget, you'll see it under Offers near you. Booking reserves the slot immediately; it's held for 30 minutes while you pay.
What are better-deal alerts?Customer
We regularly compare your active subscriptions with similar services that cover your address. We only quote a saving when the alternative is closely comparable — same frequency, similar hours and included tasks. Partial matches are labelled as such and no saving is claimed. See Better deals.
Booking, negotiation & subscriptions
How do I request a service?Customer
Choose a service and frequency, enter the postcode where it's needed, optionally a preferred start date and time of day, and add it to your basket. When you send your basket, each business receives its own request.
Is the basket one contract?Customer
No. The basket only saves you time. Each request becomes a separate agreement with that business — with its own price, payment, schedule and cancellation terms.
Can I negotiate the price?Customer
Yes. Enter your own offer when adding to the basket, or revise it from Requests & negotiations. The business can accept, decline with a reason, or counteroffer, and you can accept or revise again. Offers expire if nobody responds within 72 hours.
What happens after the business accepts?Customer
You review the final terms — price, how you'll be billed, notice period, any minimum term and exit fee — tick to confirm, and pay on our payment provider's secure page. An accepted offer stays open for 7 days. Your subscription becomes active only when the payment provider confirms the payment.
How am I billed for weekly or fortnightly services?Customer
Weekly and fortnightly services are billed monthly at an averaged amount (for example, weekly visits × 52 ÷ 12), so each month costs the same. Quarterly and annual services are billed per visit, and one-off services are a single payment. The exact amount is shown before you confirm.
When do my appointments appear?Customer
Once payment is confirmed, appointments are scheduled on your preferred days and times where possible and a qualified team member is assigned. They appear in your Calendar, which keeps around eight weeks ahead filled in.
Can I reschedule or cancel a single appointment?Customer
Yes. Open the appointment in your Calendar and choose a new time from the available slots (at least 2 hours ahead), or cancel it. The business is notified straight away.
How do I confirm a visit or report a problem?Customer
When the team finishes a visit, you'll get a notification asking whether it went ahead. Open the Visit record from the notification, your Calendar or the subscription page to see the arrival and finish times, any notes and checklist, and tap Yes, the visit went ahead, or choose Report a problem. If you're at home, you can also confirm on the staff member's device by typing your name. Reporting a problem opens a complaint linked to that visit. You have 48 hours after the visit is finished to report a problem, and if you confirmed on the staff member's device you still have 48 hours from then. Confirming the visit yourself in the app closes the window. After that, an unanswered visit is confirmed automatically, and you can still raise a complaint from Complaints.
Can I subscribe on behalf of my household?Customer
Yes. Tick Household subscription when adding a service, and choose which member it's for. If you don't have authority to approve or pay, an adult administrator approves it first. See Households & budgets below.
Can I message a business before booking?Customer
Yes. Use Message on the business profile or open Messages. Your full address is only shared with a business once a subscription is confirmed and paid.
What if a business doesn't reply?Customer
Open requests expire after 72 hours without a response, and you're told. You can send the request again or choose another provider.
Payments, billing & refunds
How do I pay?
Payments are taken by our payment provider (Stripe) on its secure hosted page. Your subscription only becomes active once Stripe confirms the payment to us — not just because a payment page said it worked.
Do you store my card details?
No. Card details are handled entirely by our payment provider. We only keep a reference to your saved payment method, such as the card brand and last four digits, so renewals can be collected.
What happens if a payment fails?Customer
For renewals we let you know and retry automatically after 1, 3 and 5 days. If payment still can't be collected, visits are paused until the overdue amount is paid — your subscription isn't silently cancelled. You can pay an overdue amount from the subscription page.
How do refunds work?
Businesses can refund payments for their own services, and our support team can issue refunds when resolving a complaint. Refunds go back to the original payment method and are reflected in your budget.
Can a business raise my price?Customer
Only with your agreement. A business can propose a new price, but nothing changes unless you accept, and price increases must be proposed at least 30 days before they take effect. We alert you when this happens.
How do referral rewards work?
There are two kinds, both on your Referrals page:
- Refer a friend to a business you use. Some businesses run a "refer a friend" offer. Share your link for that business: your friend gets the offer on their first booking there, and once their first payment is confirmed you get the same amount off your next renewal with that business. The business pays for both. If a business isn't running an offer, there's no reward for its links.
- Refer a business. If you run a business on skrhyb, invite other businesses: they get a discount on their first paid plan month, and you earn skrhyb plan credit once their first plan payment is confirmed.
Why is my referral link a code rather than my name?
Invite links use a private code instead of your account details, so nothing about you is exposed when you share it.
Can I get browser notifications?
Yes. In Account settings → Browser notifications, turn them on for each browser or device you use. On iPhone or iPad, add skrhyb to your Home Screen first (iOS 16.4 or later). You can turn them off at any time.
Are prices shown with VAT?
Prices shown are the prices businesses set for their services, including any VAT the business charges; ask the business if you need a VAT invoice. skrhyb itself is not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to skrhyb plan fees and customers never pay skrhyb anything.
Cancellations, changes & complaints
How do I cancel a subscription?Customer
Open the subscription in My subscriptions and choose Cancel. You'll see the exact end date before you confirm: it respects the notice period (often 7 days) and any minimum term shown when you subscribed. Where the business offers an exit fee, you can choose to pay it to leave earlier. You can change your mind while the cancellation is pending.
Will skrhyb ever cancel something without asking me?
No. Cancellations, pauses and changes always need explicit agreement. Even when you switch provider, the old subscription only ends because you authorised it, under its normal notice terms.
Can I pause a subscription?
You can ask to pause until a chosen date. The business needs to agree; once it does, visits in that period are cancelled and the subscription resumes automatically.
Can I change how often a service happens?
Yes. Request a frequency change from the subscription page. Like other changes, it applies once the other side agrees, and future appointments are rescheduled to match.
A business removed part of my bundle — what now?Customer
If a business withdraws a service from a bundle you're subscribed to, we work out the price reduction and send you a proposal. Nothing changes unless you accept. If you decline, you can cancel without the minimum term or exit fee.
How do I make a complaint?Customer
Go to Complaints and link the subscription, appointment or payment concerned. The business has 5 days to respond; if it doesn't, the case is escalated to our team automatically. You can also escalate yourself and add evidence such as photos.
Can businesses raise a complaint too?Business
Yes. Businesses can open a case about a customer from the business area, for example about a payment dispute. Cases are linked to a real booking or payment.
How is a complaint resolved?
Our team reviews the messages and evidence from both sides, can arrange a refund where appropriate, and records the outcome. Both parties are notified.
What can I do if I'm still unhappy?
Contact our support team via the contact page. This is general information, not legal advice — your statutory consumer rights are not affected. See our terms.
Households & budgets
What is the household wallet?Customer
It's a shared view of your household's services, budgets and who pays for what. It doesn't hold money — it's a budgeting and approvals tool. Payments are always made by an authorised adult through our payment provider.
How do I add people to my household?Customer
In Household, add a member. Adults can be invited by email and join with an invitation link; children are added as profiles. Only adult household administrators can add or remove members.
Can children have accounts?Customer
Children are added as profiles so you can assign lessons or activities to them. They can never purchase, approve or pay. Anything for a child needs an adult administrator's approval.
How do approvals and spending limits work?Customer
Administrators can set a monthly limit for each member and decide who can request services. Requests that need approval, or that would take a member over their limit, wait in Household → Approvals until an administrator approves or declines them.
Who pays for household services?Customer
An adult with payment authority confirms and pays. Administrators can choose a default payer. Other members see who pays, never the card details.
Can I move a service to another household member?Customer
Yes. Administrators can reassign a subscription — or a single component of a bundle — to another member, and future appointments follow.
How do budgets work?Customer
Set a weekly, monthly or annual budget, optionally split by category and by household member. We keep four figures separate: confirmed commitments, pending requests (not yet agreed), an estimated total, and money actually paid this period. See Budget.
What happens if I go over budget?Customer
We warn you. If a set of requests would exceed what's left, you're asked to confirm before sending them. Budget warnings also appear on your dashboard.
What is subscription health?Customer
Subscription health gives each subscription an explainable score based on how much you use it, affordability, your satisfaction, price competitiveness, reliability and upcoming renewals or price changes. It shows its reasoning and confidence, lets you add a note (for example "on holiday"), and never takes any action for you.
Reviews, verification & trust
Who can leave a review?
Only customers who have had a completed appointment can review it — one review per completed service event, within 180 days. Businesses can't review themselves.
What's in a review?
An overall star rating is required. Ratings for quality, punctuality, professionalism, communication and value, a written comment, up to 4 photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB each) and "would you recommend?" are optional. Photos are shown publicly with your review and hidden if the review is removed.
Can a business delete a bad review?
No. Businesses can reply publicly and report a review they believe breaks our rules, but they can't delete it. Our moderators review reports and record every decision.
How do you stop fake reviews?
Reviews must come from a completed appointment. We also look for warning signs — brand-new accounts, many reviews in a short time, reviewers linked to competing businesses, copied text and sudden bursts of five-star ratings — and hold suspicious reviews for moderation rather than publishing them straight away.
What do the review confidence labels mean?
"Limited", "developing" and "established" history tell you how much review evidence sits behind a rating. They aren't a guarantee of quality.
What does the verified badge mean?
We've checked the business's identity, registration and the documents required for its service categories — for example insurance, qualifications, licences or safeguarding checks. It isn't a guarantee of service quality. See verification.
Why can't I find a plumber or electrician I saw before?
Some categories need verified documents to be listed. If a required document such as insurance expires, the affected services are hidden until a renewed document is checked.
For businesses
How do I list my business?Business
Choose List your business. You can let us read your website to prepare a draft profile, or enter details by hand. Nothing is published until you've checked it. Then add services and prices, choose a plan, set your hours and publish.
What does the website scan do?Business
It reads your public website's text and structured data to suggest your name, description, contact details, address, services and any published prices. Missing details stay blank — we never fill gaps with guesses — and every field is editable before anything is published.
What do the plans cost?Business
There are three plans, billed monthly or annually (annual costs the same as 10 months), each with a free trial:
- Business Growth (£29/month, entry plan) — for freelancers, sole traders and small service businesses getting started: up to 10 active listings, 50 active customer subscriptions and 1 user account, with basic promotions and discount codes.
- Business Professional (£59/month, best value) — for growing businesses: up to 50 listings, 250 subscriptions and 5 team accounts, plus staff scheduling, automatic job allocation, the advanced calendar, AI pricing and promotion suggestions, retention analytics and priority (“Featured”) marketplace visibility.
- Business Enterprise (£129/month) — for established and multi-location businesses: unlimited listings, 1,000 subscriptions, 20 team accounts, multiple locations, AI-assisted allocation, AI growth recommendations, targeted campaigns, segmentation, API access, multiple manager roles and priority support.
The pricing page always shows current prices and a side-by-side comparison.
Can I add more seats or subscription capacity without upgrading?Business
Yes. Under Billing & plan → Add-ons you can buy extra team seats and extra blocks of subscription capacity. Prices are shown before you confirm and on the pricing page. Increases apply straight away and are added to your next plan payment; reductions take effect at the end of the period you've paid for.
What is priority support?Business
On Business Enterprise, support requests from owners and managers are marked high priority and answered within 1 working day (otherwise 2 working days).
What are AI insights?Business
Under AI insights, Professional and Enterprise businesses can get pricing and promotion suggestions that compare each price with real comparable listings and your last 90 days of requests. Enterprise adds growth recommendations based on your retention, cancellations, reviews and demand. Suggestions are advice only — nothing changes unless you change it — and they never go below your own cost floor.
What commission do you charge?Business
None. skrhyb takes no commission from your customers' payments: you receive them in full, less the card processor's standard fee (Stripe's, for card payments). You pay only your plan fee and any optional add-ons. See how fees work.
How do featured placement and sponsored promotions work?Business
Available on every plan. Featured placement (from Billing & plan → Boost your visibility) and sponsoring a promotion (from Promotions → Sponsor this promotion) are bought by the week; current weekly prices are on the pricing page. They start once payment is confirmed (or straight after one that's already running). Both are always labelled "Featured" or "Sponsored" and shown apart from ranked results — they never change your organic ranking or your ratings.
How does changing plan work?Business
Upgrades during a paid period cost the prorated difference for the rest of the period, charged when you upgrade; the new plan applies as soon as that payment is confirmed. Downgrades and switching between monthly and annual billing take effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and you can cancel a scheduled change before then. If your usage no longer fits the smaller plan when the change is due, we keep your current plan and let you know.
How do business referrals work?Business
Share your business invite link from Referrals. A business that signs up with it gets a discount on its first paid plan month (currently 50%). When that first plan payment is confirmed, you earn skrhyb plan credit worth one month of your own plan, used automatically on your next plan payments (up to 12 rewards in any 12 months). Credit has no cash value and only pays skrhyb plan fees.
How do customer referral offers work?Business
Create a promotion of type Referral offer under Promotions (any plan). It reaches only friends referred by your existing customers through their personal link for your business: the friend gets the offer on their first booking with you, and when their first payment is confirmed the customer who referred them gets the same amount off their next renewal with you. You fund both, skrhyb takes nothing, and the Growth centre shows how many friends were referred, booked and rewarded. Referral offers can't use a discount code.
What happens when my free trial ends?Business
You're asked to pay under Billing & plan. If a plan stays unpaid for 14 days it's cancelled and plan features are switched off; your data is kept and you can choose a plan again.
What if I reach a plan limit?Business
Limits — such as active listings, active subscriptions, team accounts and locations — are enforced. You'll see an upgrade prompt when you reach one, and downgrading is blocked if your current usage wouldn't fit the smaller plan.
Why is my service marked "restricted"?Business
Some categories — such as electrical work, plumbing, childcare and children's lessons — need verified documents like insurance, qualifications, licences or safeguarding evidence. Restricted services stay hidden until those documents are verified. Upload them under Verification.
How long does verification take and what happens when documents expire?Business
Our team reviews each document and may ask for more information. We remind you 30 days before a verified document expires; if it expires, affected services are restricted again until a renewed document is checked.
How do I respond to requests and negotiate?Business
Open Requests & negotiations. You can accept the customer's offer, decline with a reason, or counteroffer a different price or frequency. Offers expire after 72 hours.
Can I change a customer's price?Business
You can propose a change from the subscription. The customer must accept, and price increases need at least 30 days' notice. Changing your listed prices never alters existing subscriptions.
How do bundles work?Business
Create a bundle from your own active services under Bundles, set each component's frequency and one combined price. We show customers the separate-vs-bundle saving, create separate appointments and staff allocation for each component, and keep a revenue allocation per component for your reporting.
How does the capacity marketplace work?Business
Publish unused appointment slots at a discount under Capacity marketplace. Before an offer goes live we check it against your own settings — minimum price, minimum margin, maximum discount, labour and travel costs. Offers that would breach them need the owner's explicit approval with a reason. We then notify nearby interested customers who have budget available. Slots are reserved instantly when booked, so they can't be double-booked.
Can I ask customers questions when they book? (Enterprise)Business
Yes. On each service page you can add booking questions — short or long text, a choice list, yes/no or a number, optionally required. Customers answer them when they add the service to their basket; answers are shown on the request and on the staff member's job. You can also add a visit checklist: steps your staff tick off at each visit, optionally with a required note.
How are staff assigned to jobs?Business
Each appointment goes to a team member who is qualified for the category, working at that time, not on leave and not already booked — the system won't allow overlapping jobs. Depending on your plan you can choose round-robin, lowest workload, skill-based, nearest or a balanced option, and managers can always reassign.
Why can't I assign a staff member to children's lessons or childcare?Business
For categories involving children, each staff member needs an enhanced DBS check verified by skrhyb. Record it on the staff member's page (level, certificate number, issue date, Update Service status and the staff member's consent, optionally with a copy). Our team verifies it, usually within 2 working days. Checks are re-verified every 3 years, or yearly if the staff member is on the DBS Update Service; we remind you 30 days before.
How do staff see their day?Business
Staff open Today's route to see their jobs in order with drive times between them and a Google Maps directions link for each leg. Drive times are estimates unless road routing is configured on the platform, and are labelled as such.
How does visit check-in and customer sign-off work?Business
On every plan, staff tap Arrived when they get to a job and Finished when they're done, which records check-in and check-out times. If the customer is there, they can confirm the visit on the staff member's device by typing their name and ticking a box (no signature is drawn). Otherwise, they're asked to confirm by notification. Visits not confirmed or disputed within 48 hours are confirmed automatically. If a customer reports a problem, a complaint linked to the visit is opened for you to respond to. You can switch on an optional location check in Settings. It's off by default. Staff devices then share their position once at each tap, and we store only the distance from the property (rounded to 10 m) and the GPS accuracy, never the coordinates. Your confirmed and disputed visit rates for the last 90 days are on Analytics.
How do I reschedule appointments?Business
On the Calendar, drag an appointment to a new day and time (press and hold on a touch screen), or use Move… to type a date and time. We check opening hours, holidays and staff availability, reassign staff if needed, and notify the customer.
What can staff and managers see?Business
Staff see their own jobs, times and service postcodes — not prices or finances. Managers run day-to-day operations; revenue, billing, payouts and plan changes are for owners.
How do promotions work?Business
Under Promotions you can run introductory, seasonal and limited-time offers and discount codes on every plan. Recurring, bundle, referral, off-peak, capacity and loyalty campaigns are on Professional and above; postcode-targeted campaigns are on Enterprise. Any plan can sponsor a promotion (see below). You control dates, eligible services, discount, redemption limits and new-customer-only, and see views, enquiries, bookings and revenue per campaign.
How do discount codes work?Business
Add a code (3–20 letters, numbers or hyphens) when you create a promotion. A promotion with a code applies only when a customer enters that code when adding your service to their basket; promotions without a code apply automatically. Redemption limits, dates and eligibility still apply, and each customer can use a code once.
How and when do I get paid?Business
With Stripe Connect, customer payments go to your connected Stripe account in full (less Stripe's processing fee), and Stripe pays you out on its usual schedule. Set this up under Billing & plan → Payouts.
Can I connect my own systems?Business
Enterprise plans can create read-only API keys under Settings → API access, with scopes for services, subscriptions, appointments and customers. Keys are shown once, can be revoked at any time and are rate limited. Contact support if you need the API documentation.
Can I sync appointments to my calendar?Business
Yes. Create a private calendar link in your account settings and subscribe to it from Google, Apple or Outlook calendar. You can rotate the link at any time to revoke old copies.
Privacy, security & your data
How do I download my data?
Go to Account settings → Privacy and download a copy of your data (a machine-readable JSON file) at any time.
How do I delete my account?
In Account settings → Privacy, choose delete account. You need to cancel active subscriptions first, and business owners need to transfer or close their business. We remove your personal details; payment records we're legally required to keep are retained without them. See our privacy policy.
How long do you keep my information?
Different records are kept for different periods — for example notifications for a year and payment records for as long as the law requires. The full list is in our privacy policy.
How is my account protected?
Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, sessions use secure cookies, and you can add two-step sign-in with an authenticator app. Administrator accounts must use two-step sign-in.
Do you use AI with my information?
AI helps interpret what you're looking for, prepare business profiles from public websites and answer support questions. It only sees information you're allowed to see, can't make changes to your account, and its suggestions are logged. Prices, reviews and availability always come from real listings.
What files can I upload?
PNG, JPEG and WebP images and PDF documents, up to 8MB each. Uploads are private by default and checked to make sure they really are the type they claim to be.
How do I report a security or privacy concern?
Contact us via the contact page and choose Privacy & my data. Please don't include passwords or card numbers in messages.
Still need help?
Ask the skrhyb assistant — it can look up your account when you're signed in — or send our team a message.
